He is active in ASTM Committees E-5 for fire tests and C-16 for thermal insulation; and serves on NFPA's Technical Committee on Assembly Occupancies and Membrane Structures and on NFPA's Building Code Technical Committee on Materials. He also chairs NFPA's Technical Committee on Fire Tests.
Bill holds his bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle, and is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer.
