William E. Fitch, P.E. is president of Phyrefish Enterprises, Inc. He is recognized nationwide as an expert in the field of building codes and standards.

Bill has been involved in the industry since 1963. Prior to starting Phyrefish, he was an owner of Omega Point Laboratories, where he was responsible for consulting, litigation, forensic/fire reconstruction, and the listing and labeling program. He managed the development and implementation of new products and systems for Owens-Corning and served as a research associate at the National Institute for Standards and Technology.

He is active in ASTM Committees E-5 for fire tests and C-16 for thermal insulation; and serves on NFPA's Technical Committee on Assembly Occupancies and Membrane Structures and on NFPA's Building Code Technical Committee on Materials. He also chairs NFPA's Technical Committee on Furnishings and Contents and the Technical Committee on Fire Tests.

Bill holds his bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle, and is a licensed Fire Protection Engineer.
